Description

I manage the network engineering team for a Datacenter company to include the Managed Service Provider( MSP ) services. Ideally this would literally be an AMA as I am sure there are many questions the community would like to ask somebody in my position about exactly what we do, why some things are the way they are, and how to work with a MSP network team best.

1) What is an MSP and what should you know or consider when selecting a provider?
2) What exactly does a datacenter networking team do?
3) When you need to work with us how can we best collaborate to help you be up and running? What information should you provide? What steps can you take to help us help you? What questions should you be asking us?
4) What is the network team responsible for and what are they not responsible for?
5) How to tell if you are about to sign a contract with a good team?
6) What services do you really need? What services do you not need? What are the upsides and downsides of popular services?

One-line summary Ask a datacenter network manager everything you've wanted to ask but couldn't.
